"Commerce" and "Manpower": Decision on Domestic Worker Recruitment Prices Remains in Force Unchanged, as Does Law No. 68/2015 on the Obligations of Recruitment Office Owners

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Public Authority for Manpower confirmed that Decision 446/2019 on fixing the cost of recruiting domestic workers, and Law No. 68/2015 on the obligations of recruitment office owners, remain in force.

"Commerce" and "Manpower" said in a joint press statement today that "Decision No. 446/2019 on fixing the cost of recruiting domestic workers set a maximum of KD 990 for workers requested through offices and KD 390 for workers requested directly by the employer".

They added that Law No. 68/2015 defined the obligations of recruitment office owners, most notably that the recruitment office guarantees the domestic worker's continuity of work for six months, during which it must return the domestic worker to their home country and refund the amounts received from the employer if there is an impediment preventing the domestic worker from performing their work for the employer.

They affirmed their keenness to ease the burden on citizens and residents, calling on them to report any price increase via the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Consumer Protection hotline at 135, and via the Manpower e-mail

They stressed that they "will not hesitate to enforce the law against those who exploit the domestic worker recruitment license in a manner that violates the applicable laws".
