«Commerce»: 3760 trademark filing applications received last December. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that its Trademarks and Patents Department received 3760 trademark filing applications via the e-portal during last December. «Commerce» said in a press statement that it completed 1191 trademark registration application transactions, 1510 trademark publication transactions and 1059 transactions for registering trademarks and issuing their certificates. It added that it completed 1132 trademark renewal transactions and 379 annotation requests for changing the address and name of the trademark owner, transferring its ownership, cancelling its registration and changing the name of the registration agent. «Commerce» explained that it completed 1515 annotation publication transactions, including 1132 trademark renewal publications, 380 name amendments or address changes and 3 trademark form amendments, in addition to receiving 38 opposition requests against trademark registration and registering one grievance against a trademark rejection decision. It stated that it collected fees of KD 714 thousand for all of the above transactions. It also disclosed the collection of KD 6659 in patent fees, distributed as KD 3200 for patent renewals, KD 3040 for filing pct patents, and KD 419 for filing, registering, examining and amending industrial designs and patents.
